Mission

We strive to conserve wetlands in Minnetonka by:

  • Advocating
  • Working with stakeholders
  • Researching development proposals
  • Speaking at planning commission/city council meetings
  • Mobilizing neighbors

We are birdwatchers, teachers, researchers, concerned citizens, live on Minnetonka wetlands, parents, community organizers, photographers, etc. We have a network of experts in the community who support our cause.

Wetland Habitat

These photos showcase the pristine condition of one of Minnetonka’s wetlands, (directly to the North of Lexus of Wayzata). The area is full of life in all seasons.

"I seemed to have reached a new world, so wild a place....far away from human society. What’s the need of visiting far-off mountains and bogs, if a half-hour’s walk will carry me into such wilderness and novelty?”

- Henry David Thoreau

Walser Kia Proposal

For the past year, our wetland has been a risk of losing it’s federal protection. Without this in place, cities and developers have complete control over our wetland habitats. The city and Walser Automotive Group wish to have a car dealership and 4-story parking garage. They need a wetland/floodplain variance to do this because critical buffer area will be destroyed and buffer zones are federally protected. The city continues to deny our request for an environmental assessment.
